February 23rd, 2022Netflix announces the start of production for Brigands, the new Italian crime-western series in 6 episodes, produced by Fabula Pictures in association with Los Hermanos s.r.l.

Set in southern Italy in the mid-1800s, Brigands is a modern, epic and action-packed tale about the phenomenon of banditry. Freely inspired by people, men and women, who really existed and became a symbol of the peasant revolution in post-unification Italy, the series is a choral story of struggle for the freedom of the outcasts.

Filming will take place in Puglia, between Lecce, Melpignano, Altamura and Nardò thanks also to the contribution of the Apulia Film Commission, Regione Puglia and the Apulia Film Commission Foundation. Brigands will be available in 2023 on Netflix, in all countries where the service is active.

The screenplay is signed by GRAMS*, the collective composed by the five young authors Antonio Le Fosse (also director of the series), Re Salvador, Eleonora Trucchi, Marco Raspanti and Giacomo Mazzariol. The directors are Steve Saint Leger (Vikings, Vikings: Valhalla, Barbarians), Antonio Le Fosse (Baby), and Nicola Sorcinelli (Milosc).

The protagonists are Michela De Rossi in the role of Filomena, Ivana Lotito in the role of Ciccilla and Matilda Lutz in the role of Michelina De Cesare; Marlon Joubert is Giuseppe Schiavone, while Orlando Cinque plays Pietro Monaco. Among the cast: Gianmarco Vettori (Marchetta), Federico Ielapi (Jurillo), Giulio Beranek (Francesco Guerra), Adriano Chiaramida (Antonio Monaco) and Leon de la Vallée (Celestino).
